Occasionally science fiction but mostly frogs and bats.

First newt of 2024
I mean to say something about Chris Priest, but in the meantime, I did a bit of pond-dipping for the first time this year (it's remarkably mild and a friend turned up a frog yesterday) and found one of the resident newts doing well.
I had three (at least) resident frogs up into 2022. I was gifted some frogspawn which I hoped would really kickstart things, but I think it just gave the newts more to chew on. As much as I like frogs, though, newts are still another nice amphibian.
Won't the milky way habitats get lonely at some point? Them flies should start advertising free real estate to the nearby galaxy. Oh wait, that sounds familiar...
Thinking of Chris, I was recently indexing all his books (and many of his shorter pieces) for the Fictionmags Index as a tribute to him, and was reminded of that strange Barclays Bank anthology CONSEQUENCES that you both appeared in. It struck me that the anthology itself would be worth indexing but I've never been able to locate a copy - did you received one yourself?
Yes, Phil, and I'm sure Chris had his copy(s) as well as we were both at the launch ceremony. The reason it's difficult to get hold of is that it was intended as an internal publication within Barclays, not for wider distribution. I'm not sure how many copies were printed but I don't think it was expected to have any great longevity.
Lovely newt. Just got around to my back-log and read Eversion. Fabelous concepts - thank you. Always feel fortunate to read your books. But your interpretation of what norway is/was and how to navigate northwards is the most unintentional funny thing I've read in a while.
Hi. Just read Machine Vendetta followed by Century Rain. Loved how Dreyfus went away with the Ultras. Floyd I'm guessing didn't get such a happy ending waiting for him. What's the next book you're writing about? Standalone book or a Revelation book? Thanks!
My parents are from South Wales and were commenting on the frog spawn this weekend. Never seen a Newt in Newport tho!

ReplyDeleteI thought the leaf was part of the newt and for a wonderful moment was astounded at the development of Welsh Newts

DeleteThanks. Would it be possible to get a photo/scan of the Table of Contents so that I can index it?
