Inhibitor Phase out in the world

"Reynolds tells meticulous tales in the hard-SF tradition that invariably pack an emotional punch. Inhibitor Phase, a novel about middle-age, loss and redemption, is a heart-thumping adventure to boot." - The Times.

Publication dates tend to be a little porous these days. Although Inhibitor Phase is not supposed to be out in the UK until the 26th, I'm informed that copies have been spotted in the wild, most notably in Waterstones.

I've signed a quantity of bookplates for said establishment, so while these aren't quite signed editions, they're the next best thing:

For the time being, if it's a genuine signed hardcover that you're after, you are kindly directed to Anderida Books of Worcester, who should have signed copies in stock immediately (we did a number of them on my kitchen table), and will shortly be selling signed, numbered editions as well:

As and when I have news about other signed editions, I'll let you know. Obviously some of the usual options are a little difficult at the moment. While Covid restrictions may have eased throughout the UK, I'm remaining cautious and doing as little travel as possible. And, needless to say, if you want an unsigned hardback or trade paperback edition, or an audiobook or ebook, there are a number of online retail concerns who may be able to assist.

More news as it comes.

  1. Al, thank you for posting the above links. As a fan from the USA I was going to have a hard time waiting until October to read Inhibitor Phase. Now hopefully I'll be reading it next week!

  2. Al, just wondering if you know when the audiobook will be available? And is Mr. John Lee continuing his wonderful readings of your books? Thanks! You really are the best!

  3. Not sure about the date, but John Lee is definitely doing the reading as we communicated about it a few months ago.

  6. I am so excited. I just ordered the signed and numbered first edition. I don't know how long it will take to get here, but they said only 6 were left. I have always considered your writing to be incredible and look forward to reading this and owning a signed edition. Thanks so much for making this available.

  9. Hi Al,
I just wnated to say thanks for another thoroughly enjoyable read with Inhibitor Phase. I picked my hardback copy up on Friday, started it last night and am already lost in the story. So thanks again!

On a sidenote, after I finished Uni at the end of the 1990's I stopped reading for quite a few years due to Uni reading burnout. I didn't do anything other than thumb throught a few pages of the occasional book until ~2005 when I idly picked up a copy of Revelation Space at Stanstead Airport and found myself transfixed from the get go.

Without picking up that one book up I may well have drifted on for another few years without reading anything. That one purchase led to a lot of amazing reading and eventually led me to starting the https://sciencefictionbookclub.org in 2011 which ran and ran and ran from then unil our unplanned pandemic haitus in March 2020.

So may many thanks for getting me back into the reading harness 👍

Also next time we read one of your novels at the SFbookclub we'd love to chat, if you're interested. We often get up to 30-35 people between our two bi-weekly meetings each month. If that appeals hit me up via info@sciencefictionbookclub.org and we'll sort somthing out.

Thanks again for everything and take care,
    Gerard

  10. Hello!
I tried to post a couple of days ago but I am not sure my comment has been posted properly because I don't see it, not sure if I did something wrong or if it is still awaiting moderation.
Anyway, I was saying I am extremely loooking forward to the new book as I only discovered the Revelation Space novels a couple of months ago, not even knowing a new book was going to be published. Amazing! :)
I wanted to ask if Inhibitor Phase is going to be translated to french like the other books were, is there any information about it?
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi Kareem, I'm not sure what happened to your first comment, it may be that I deleted it accidentally, but thanks anyway for trying again. At the moment there is no agreement to translate Inhibitor Phase. My French sales are not huge, so it is a balancing act to offset translation rights, and at the moment I think it is becoming difficult. However, we live in hope.

    3. Hallo Al, i have started with reading Inhibitor phase. I am fascinated! Already on the first 25 pages i have found the spirit of Revelation Space. I can't get enough of this universe you have created. In the meantime it's much easier for me to read in english, although I'm still hoping, there will be a german publisher for your newest novels as once the Heyne Verlag was. Please Al, go on with creating this visions of the future! Best wishes from Germany!

  11. Thank you so much for this book! What a lovely continuation of the story and a chance to revisit old friend's. If another is to come in the series I will be ready. If the story ends now, I am glad I was able to enjoy it.
