  2. There's the big one mostly out of the water, but if you look around the edge of the pond you should see a couple of heads poking out. Click on the image yo see it a bit bigger!

  3. Hello Al,

I just wanted to stop by and tell you that in the past year I've read the entire Revelation Space series and in my opinion it is the greatest sci-fi creation to have ever been written in the history of sci-fi. You have inspired me to start writing in this genre, and to make music that is influenced by it.

I fell deeply in love with the universe you have created. All the colorful characters, the engaging story, the expertly painted pictures of galactic battles and insidious ploys, the mysterious tech and the vivid cities of the future...you have it all, and I deeply admire your work.

If one day I reach the publication stage of some novel I write, I will include you as the most honorable influence I have had.

Thank you for everything man. You've made my life better in all the ways possible. May the very best of life accompany you on this journey, and may you keep doing what you love for as long as possible.

    With immeasurable respect,
    Hristo

    1. Oh, but you do, and you know it. Anyone who has ever tried writing knows how difficult it can be to truly create something original and grand such as RS. Words fail to betray how vivid of an imagination is needed for that.

I don't wanna be a nuisance, but as someone who wants to write sci-fi, I find it quite difficult to figure out how to start. Maybe the foundation doesn't have to be a truly original concept, but the development that follows has to be. Where did you get your inspiration from? How do you start writing something so amazing? Do you start off based on a single, simple idea, and build as you go, or do you have a big outline that depicts everything that you plan for the book as a summary which you then follow with details?

I've never thought that I'd actually chat to you, but here I am, asking you for advice. If only you knew how thankful I am for that opportunity...
