Literary inspiration

I'm hoping these two gentleman will guide my hand during the writing of the Doctor Who novel.

"My dear fellow, you appear to have a large black cable growing out of your shoulder."

  1. I know it's wrong of me to think this after all these years, but for me, Jon Pertwee IS The Doctor. Why didn't they make great action figures like this when I was a kid?

Meanwhile, I obviously need to go shopping...

  2. They're not action figures. They're ... posable scale mannequins. Or something. But not action figures, because that would imply that I was a grown man PLAYING WITH DOLLS.

  3. My son put my 4th Doctor "posable scale mannequin" in the cockpit of his Star Wars AT-AT. I tried to explain why this was wrong, but was secretly thinking it was kinda awesome.

  4. That's wrong, just totally, totally wrong. They're not remotely the same scale.

  5. The dirty secret of lots of middle-aged science fiction fans everywhere...a nasty plastic habit.
    Drives my wife nuts.

  6. Completely - it isn't as though AT-ATs are bigger on the inside.

  7. And not a Tom Baker scarf in sight.

I think my brain just exploded in glee. I somehow missed that you contracted to write a Doctor Who novel. Merry Christmas to me! :-)

  9. I am so very excited to hear that you're writing a Doctor Who novel! It made me even more overjoyed to find out that it was to feature the Third Doctor. I'm also such a huge fan of the Master (and of course Doctor Who in general), especially Delgado's. I can't wait to read your novel and live more of this era!

Also, I too own that "posable scale mannequin" of the Master. And no, I'm not a grown woman that plays with toys. Or poses them strategically on my desk.
