We've been landing on Mars for a long time.

 The Mars Perseverance rover...

is as far from Viking...

As Viking is from the 1931 Schneider Trophy seaplane:

  1. Makes you wonder what humanity could have achieved by now with some real resource thrown into exploration!

    1. If you read Steve Baxter's Voyage, it'll show we could have been on Mars by the mid-80s using tweaked Apollo era hardware.

    2. Thanks, I've always meant to read some Baxter but didn't know where to start. Now I do! :)

  2. I think we should take more good care of our home.Exploration is a built in prerogative to our species but if we won't take care of it we won't be able to have a base from which we can send our species in space.Terraforming is still in the future, as many other things.

  3. Looking forward to the first flight of the Ingenuity helicopter next week....
