For the last few years my publisher in the United States has been Orbit. As the arrangements with my previous publisher lapse, Orbit have been reacquiring the titles and making plans to bring them out with new covers (and in the case of one, the revised title that was applied to the UK edition a little while ago).

I've read the Inhibitor trilogy and The Prefect, and I plan to return for more very soon. You also inspired me to write science fiction, too. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteJust finished Absolution Gap and was blown. Silly question, but any way Zima Blue made the bridge over the Gap? Seems like something he might have done.
ReplyDeleteNo, Zima's in a different universe with FTL travel and so on. The only other story in that setting is "The Real Story" which also features Carrie Clay (her name got changed for the Netflix animation.)

DeleteI'm a sucker for renderings of starships, and as such I'll always be partial to the original covers, but these look very nice as well, and I'm glad to hear your publishers are pushing your original RS stuff out there again.
ReplyDeleteI still remember with vivid clarity the day I stumbled across your work. I'd taken a ride with a friend of mine to a local book store and, bored with what I'd been reading, wandered into the SF section. I felt like a good SF book could really scratch the itch I had, and when I picked up Revelation Space and started reading the review excerpts and the synopsis about a crew of cyborgs aboard a bizarre starship, I felt there was a good chance I'd like the book.
You didn't disappoint, AR :) I went home that day and immediately got engrossed in Sylveste's razorstorm dig and Volyova running from Nagourney on the NFI.
That was some 15 years ago, IIRC, and I've read every one of your books and short story collections since, save the Doctor Who book. (Sorry, but what can I say? I'm an American and the good Doctor was not available to me on TV while growing up.)
On an unrelated note, I found an awesome piece of artwork of an alien-looking skull with machine parts attached and twinkly-like components visible from gaps between the bone and sections where the skull is broken. The only thing it doesn't have is little drilled-in nodes for a bone reader to plug in. It doesn't look like there's an option to upload images, but I will try pasting it here and hopefully you can see it. Cheers.
