Forbidden Planet

I'll be signing in London's Forbidden Planet tomorrow between 4 and 5pm. Hope to see some of you there.

Meanwhile, a reminder that you can read a little bit about the book, as well as the prologue and first three chapters, over at the http://www.gollancz.co.uk/.

This week's progress: 11,000 words on the new book.

  1. Hope the signing goes well; unfortunately I can't get into London tomorrow. Really enjoyed the preview chapters on the Gollancz website though - and I'll be getting a copy of BRE in the next couple of days...
    Cheers, Patrick.

  2. Any plans for a US visit for those of us on this side of the pond?

  3. Hello, I am enjoying your new book. Are you planning any signings in Wales? Tom in the old Borders at LLantrisant told me to read your books, and said you used to sign them there. Sadly Borders is gone but there are still a few book shops in Cardiff (as you probably know!). Looking forward to your future books.
    Regards, Dave.

  4. Hi Dave - I did one signing at the Llantrisant Borders but sadly it wasn't very well attended. They closed soon after - hope I didn't push them over the edge. I remember Tom - very nice and helpful chap.

There's nothing in the pipeline but I do the occasional library event in the area; keep your eyes peeled. I'm also likely to be popping up at a literary festival in Camarthenshire later in the year, but that's a few months away.

  5. Got my first ever HC of yours today and it looks seeexy! Any chance of a quick flip over to sign it? Remember, I'm only a couple of hours from Bairnsdale, BBQ's ready, Beer's cold...Och, worth a try I guess.

  7. Not so weird Al as you told me yourself at Aussiecon 4 in 2010 when you signed Girl's (she being my sister-in-law) book for me. Remember? Yes, I'm that Dave! Sheesh!

  8. Remember meeting you very well, Dave - just didn't remember we mentioned Bairnsdale. Spent a nice night there, anyway...

  11. As an aspiring writer I'm struck by "This week's progress: 11,000 words on the new book."

Maybe I'll improve … I'm sure I'll improve, but for now if I'm doing good stuff I seem to be averaging 2,500 words per week.

BTW, I'm reading Blue Remembered Earth slowly, notebook and pen to hand, and am gratefully learning many things.
